Steve, Here are some of the

Steve,

Here are some of the specs on sulfur ...

Quote:
You can run up to 5 liters per hour per liter of media according to original experiments conducted by Marc Langouet. I've stayed on the conservative side and run about 150 ml per minute (9 liters per hour) in my reactor right now with 3.5 liters of media in there. So, almost 3 times flow per liter of media. I get no sulfur smell and no nitrates. I also feed 3 times a day.

Each liter is @ 2.2 lbs

HTH,
djfrankie

1.5 Liter of media will be good for up to 250 Gal of water.
1.5 Liter of media = 3.3 Lbs of media (1.5 x 2.2 = 3.3)

Looks like you have a 90 Gal + 75 Gal sump .. say you have 135 Gal total volume

135 Gal would call for approximately .81 L of media = 1.8 Lbs of media. That would allow you bring the flow through the reactor to as high as 5.4 Liter /hour (effluent) .. thats ~ 1.5-1.6 Gal /hour .. that would turn your tank's volume over every 85 hours .. every 3 1/2 days.

Hope this helps a little.

Here is my setup: 15 lbs of

Here is my setup:

15 lbs of Media = 6.8 Liter of media.

with the media, my reactor could be rated for as much as 1,100 - 1,200 gal system.

I'm currently running 18 Liters of water through the unit .. thats about 2.6 x the flow to media ratio ... up to 5 times is quiet OK as per original experiments conducted by Marc Langouet.

BTW .. i just tested my 'trates ... ZERO on the reactor effluent, and between 0 - 2.5 on the tank. Best it's ever been.

Here is a picture of my unit ... next to it for comparison .. a 160 gal salt mix (reef crystals)

The following are my test results:

Left are TANK | Right are Effluent

first time I've got to take

first time I've got to take pictures ... in a while!

this is the reason for why you should run a PRE-FILTER to the sulfur reactor ... this one used to be WHITE .. about a month & 1/2 ago.
