Our June meeting will be at 3 pm at my house (jdhuyvetter) in Lehigh Acres.

Address is 104 Sebring Circle, Lehigh Acres

We will have two presentations:

1: Brian (bgdiving from ACROS) will be bringing some starter cultures of phytoplankton and rotifers. He will be teaching us how to grow and maintain a continuous supply of both. Great for aquaculturing corals and basically a necessity if you want to captive raise fish.

2: Corey (a2fire2i from ACROS) will be showing us how to make "3" part solutions. These are cheap ways to boost calcium, carbonate hardness and magnesium contents for a fraction of the cost of commercial additives. Definitely a must for big tanks or large coral aquaculture.

If there is enough interest, I can show you my methods for coral fragging and mounting.

I think we have some dry goods left over to raffle. I'll donate a red cap to raffle at this meeting as well. A big one, at least 3 to 4 inches across.

Oh yeah, forgot. I have dogs and cats so Cristina, take your allergy meds before you come by. Dogs love people and absolutely adore kids. Cats will disappear.

I got my new lights for the frag tank today and my LED strip. So, when you get here, you can see for yourself HQI, LED or PC lights. The experiment begins.

What time will the meeting be going till?

The presentation of the

The presentation of the three part, phyto and rotifers will probably be around an hour to an hour and a half. If anybody wants any coral frags or wants to watch me frag and mount some corals may go about 2 hours.

We don't really have a "OK everybody leave now" time.

Corey from ACROS won't be

Corey from ACROS won't be able to make our meeting. However, he did e-mail me the "recipe" for the 3-part solution. I was planning on buying my own 2-part mix this weekend, so I'll give this portion of the presentation. I've seen it twice. It is pretty simple. If anyone wants to make their own, bring 2, 1 gallon containers (and $5 to cover the product costs).

Brian will still be presenting on phytoplankton and rotifers.

Who all is coming?????

Marco forgot to mention that I also have 125 gallon FOWLR tank that during the past year has gradually turned into a reef tank. Mostly softies. However, I have recently put in a couple of SPS as an experiment.

OK, OK, I put the two SPS in there to get them out of the way. By this weekend, I will probably have a chalice in there as well!

My son and I would like to

My son and I would like to attend, and possibly my wife. We have only been to the open house, and this is the first meeting scheduled on a day where we have not had a prior commitment. Looking forward to it.

Bill, Will be great having

Bill,

Will be great having your family as well.

I have received emails questioning non-member attendance.

I would like to clarify this for all - If you are a non-member & would like to come checkout a meeting, you're more than welcome to. We do NOT require you to be a member to attend our monthly home events. Would we encourage you to signup when you feel ready? Yes. The events are partially financed by the club & the member hosting the event.

As far as attending away meetings/trip such as the one next month - Those are for members only.

And as always, we will have membership signup forms at the event, if you feel that you are benefiting from the clubs existence and would like to help keep the club be able to host future events - you are more than welcome to signup in person. Smiling

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the meeting.

Some of you folks may know

Some of you folks may know that I've had alot of equipment and tanks for sale for some time now. I now have alot of miscellaneous supplies (additives, dry flake food, krill, nori, carbon media, phosban, etc. + some neat devices (trap, acrylic holding box and coral shelf) which I no longer need. I am planning to bring this stuff to the meeting so that it does not just go to waste. There are also plumbing stuff (valves, unions, tubing (rigid and flexible) scraps which I will bring as well. I know that these things alway come in handy and my loss can be your gain. I'll try to get there a little early so as not to disrupt the agenda..........see you there

Actually, tap water will work too. I just want distilled for me because my tap water is terrible.

So, RO/DI should be no problem.

Thank You for having the

Thank You for having the event at your house - was nice seeing everyone again.

Yes, we unfortunately had to bail early as we had a drive ahead of us. We ended up driving straight thru, no stop, and still came in around 2:45am. Was nice, put cruise control on & only had to use the break 2 times on the entire 600 mile trip. Got to love night time drives. Glad to be back home though.
